Prince William remains one of the few Northern Virginia jurisdictions without concrete affordable housing policies in place, even as the gap between incomes and housing affordability continues to widen across the DC metro area. With updates to the County's Comprehensive and Strategic Plans ongoing, Supervisors Boddye and Franklin invite you to join them for an Affordable Housing Virtual Town Hall, 7 pm on June 23, to look at the spectrum of affordable housing needs, existing programs and a productive path foward. The Supervisors will joined by:
- MWCOG Housing Program Manager Hillary Chapman: A regional overview of current state & impacts of housing affordability
- PWC Community Preservation & Development Manager Bill Lake: Existing housing programs in Prince William
- PWC Director of Planning Parag Agrawal: Connections between land use and affordability, and future policies and programs that could foster afforadability across income levels
“We are in a position to learn from others as we create policies that address housing affordability in Prince William,” said Supervisor Boddye. “While this is foremost a quality of life issue, it is also an economic and workforce issue – we all benefit when our teachers, public safety personnel, and our other essential workers are able to live where they serve. I look foward to hearing from the community on this important issue.”
